Washington [US], April 1 (ANI): Apple TV+ has unveiled the first teaser for its upcoming 'Cape Fear' miniseries, offering a chilling glimpse into a psychological thriller anchored by a menacing turn from Javier Bardem.
Released on the official social media handles by the makers of the show, the teaser sets the tone for a slow-burn, unsettling reimagining of the classic story, with the series set to premiere on June 5.
Backed by industry stalwarts Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg, the 10-episode limited series centres on a seemingly perfect family whose lives spiral into a nightmare.
As per Deadline, the narrative follows married attorneys Anna and Tom Bowden, played by Amy Adams and Patrick Wilson, whose past resurfaces in the form of Max Cady, a convicted criminal they helped put behind bars.
The teaser introduces Bardem's Max Cady as a tattoo-covered ex-convict freshly released from prison, immediately resuming his obsession with the Bowdens.
In one striking sequence, he is seen surrounded by newspaper clippings, hinting at a meticulously cultivated vendetta.
His ominous presence looms throughout, punctuated by chilling lines like, 'What is your worst fear?' and 'You deserve this.'
Described as a 'fever dream,' the series leans heavily into psychological tension rather than conventional jump scares.
The teaser suggests a layered narrative driven by paranoia, guilt, and moral reckoning, as the Bowdens begin to question their past actions and the safety of their family.
'Is there any way Max could know about what we did?' Anna asks in a moment that underscores the show's central theme: secrets are never truly buried.

As per Deadline, the series is created by Nick Antosca, known for The Act and Candy, and directed by Amanda Marsalis. It is positioned as a contemporary, Hitchcockian thriller that also explores modern America's fascination with true crime.
Produced by UCP and Amblin Television, Cape Fear draws inspiration from the novel The Executioners, which previously led to the 1962 film and its 1991 remake directed by Scorsese.
The ensemble cast also features CCH Pounder, Anna Baryshnikov, Jamie Hector, Lily Collias, Joe Anders and Malia Pyles.
The series will debut with its first two episodes, followed by weekly releases through July 31, exclusively on Apple TV+. (ANI)
