Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], September 24 (ANI): Tamil Nadu BJP President Nainar Nagendran on Wednesday criticised Chief Minister MK Stalin over the GST reforms, stating that he never appreciated schemes of the Central government and that GST decisions are made with the consent of all states.
Nagendran said that they are wrongly labelling the Central government schemes as 'anti-people,' and stated that while the state receives 50 per cent of the GST revenue, the Centre funds road works, ration supplies, and other welfare schemes at no cost to the state.
Speaking to the reporters, Nainar Nagendran asked, 'Has our Chief Minister ever spoken with pride about any scheme introduced by the Central Government? All the items given in the ration shops are provided by the Central government. In the GST Council, Finance Ministers of all the states are present. It is they who bring about all the changes.'
'It is true, as the Chief Minister says, that 50 per cent of the share goes to the state government. But with the remaining 50 per cent, it is the Central government that provides for road works, ration supplies, and all such schemes, which the state government receives free of cost. Yet, schemes that the Central government provide free of cost are being labelled as 'anti-people schemes',' Nagendran said.
On BJP leader Karate Thyagarajan's complaint to the Greater Chennai Corporation regarding the voters list, he said, 'Fake voters have been added in several constituencies, including Kolathur.'
Nagendran stated that BJP National President JP Nadda will visit Chennai on October 6 to participate in the convocation ceremony at MGR University.
'Yes our leader JP Nadda to come to Chennai on October 6 to attend MGR University convocation event,' Nagendran said.
On Annamalai meeting, TTV Dhinakaran, Nagendran said that Annamalai said that it was a friendly meeting. In a friendly meeting, many topics are naturally discussed.'
Nagendran also condoled the death of veteran actor MR Radha's wife, recalling the actor's unique contribution to the film industry and extending his sympathies to the bereaved family.
'No matter how many people are in the film industry, actor MR Radha had made a unique mark for himself. I extend my deepest condolences on the passing of his wife,' Nagendran said (ANI)
