Amaravathi (Andhra Pradesh) [India], June 20 (ANI): A placard bearing the provocative slogan 'Rapa Rapa Narukutham' (we'll chop heads one by one) caused a stir during YSR Congress Party President and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's tour of Palnadu on Thursday. The slogan, reportedly held by a supporter of the YSRCP, compared a possible YSRCP return to power in 2029 to a traditional ritual during the Gangamma Jatara, where symbolic beheadings take place.
The incident gained traction and drew criticism, prompting the police to register a case against the individual and initiate an investigation.
Responding to the issue during a press meeting on Friday, YS Jagan made a pointed remark. He questioned, 'Is it wrong to hold a placard with a dialogue from Allu Arjun's movie Pushpa?' referring to the now-infamous phrase.
He further added that, upon investigation, it was revealed that the person holding the placard actually belongs to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and holds active membership in it. Taking a jab at TDP leadership, Jagan remarked, 'Maybe he couldn't tolerate the wrongdoings of his own party's leader, Chandrababu, and that's why he was talking about chopping off heads of his own people
Earlier, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, YSR Congress Party President and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, accused Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu of conspiring to disrupt his meeting with tobacco farmers in Prakasam district. He added that the farmers showed great restraint despite provocation and violence instigated by TDP 'goons.'
'I visited Podili in Prakasam Dist. to meet distressed Tobacco farmers and offer them support, as they have been denied fair prices. Over 40,000 farmers and locals joined me in solidarity. To divert attention from the issue at hand, Chandrababu Naidu connived to send about 40 TDP workers to disrupt the meeting and provoke violence by pelting stones along our route,' Jagan Mohan Reddy said in a post on X.
'Thankfully, the farmers and public showed great restraint and did not retaliate against the acute assaults by TDP goons,' he added. (ANI)
