LONDON, U.K. - Four people were killed after an aircraft and helicopter were engaged in a mid-air crash near Waddesdon Manor on Friday.
The collision took place above woodland a mile from Waddesdon Manor, a National Trust property near Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire.
Officials said that both pilots and two passengers died in the collision and that both the aircraft were based at the Wycombe Air Park 20 miles away.
The victims are believed to have been two instructors and two pupils, however, the police have not provided any confirmations on the same so far.
Supt Rebecca Mears, from Thames Valley Police, said she could not give any details of the identity or the genders of the victims at this stage and her "first priority" was the next of kin.
She also added that it was "too early to tell" what might have caused the crash.
Subsequently, authorities issued a Notice to Airmen to warn pilots that the park’s air traffic control services would be closed for three 30-minute periods on selected days from November 7-30 because of a staff shortage.
Reports noted that the crash occurred about half an hour after the closure was due to end.
A joint investigation has been launched by the police and the Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB), to establish the cause of the collision.
